LINEUP INDUSTRIES PRESCRIBES GOLD COAST MEDICAL TO SKY CHANNEL, PICK

Sells high-stakes hospital documentary to UK broadcaster

Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries has signed a deal with Pick, Sky’s free-to-air entertainment channel, to bring the fast-paced and inspiring series Gold Coast Medical to UK audiences. The 10 x 60’ documentary series follows the blood pressure-raising incidents in the daily lives of people and staff at Gold Coast University Hospital and the Queensland Ambulance Service.

It all happens on the Gold Coast. Australia’s favourite holiday destination, entertainment capital and tourist mecca is home to sun, fun – and some of the best medical teams the country has to offer. Gold Coast Medical is an unprecedented new series that takes a deep dive into their high-stakes world – following the heroic work of the varied real-life medical personnel who make up the Gold Coast’s largest hospital (the newly renovated $1.7 billion Gold Coast University Hospital) and vital ambulance services – like we’ve never seen them before.

Julian Curtis, co-founder of Lineup Industries said: “This is edge-of-the-seat, real-life medical drama with unique characters and a fabulous setting – it’s compelling, gripping entertainment and Sky TV is the ideal home for it in the UK.”

Director of Pick and Challenge, Stephen Ladlow said: “Gold Coast Medical is a fantastic addition to our ‘Real Life Emergencies’ schedule. The show makes gripping viewing and will be welcomed by a swathe of Pick viewers who appreciate our commitment to showing great real-life critical-situation programming. We are delighted to have worked with Lineup to secure this title.”

Pick is a free-to-air entertainment channel from Sky offering instantly enjoyable telly that’s easy to get in to. It is regarded as the home of ‘Real Life Emergency’ and ‘Popcorn Scripted’ programming on Freeview.

Gold Coast Medical is produced by McAvoy Media, headed by CEO John McAvoy with Lineup representing it for international distribution excluding Australia, where it airs on Network Seven.

From the paramedics and trauma teams (featuring access to the dramatic triple zero emergency calls), to the cardiologists, obstetricians, neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons, paediatric nurses, and oncologists – this compelling new observational documentary series has gained widespread access across every department ¬¬¬¬– following all kinds of medical stories through the eyes of unforgettable characters.

As we move from the streets to the surgery wards, and everywhere in between, we’ll get to know a core cast of everyday heroes who dedicate their lives to caring for and repairing the Gold Coast locals. Whether it’s a minor cut or it’s cancer, a heart attack or a shark attack – this is the story of the incredible doctors, nurses, ambulance officers, surgeons and specialists, who will do all that they can to make it better.
