MIPCOM 2017. Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries has scored commissions in Europe and Australia for its fast-paced, blood pressure-raising documentary format Emergency Call (7X45’). 

Seven Network in Australia, Germany’s VOX, EO/NPO1 in the Netherlands, Italy’s RAI2 and C8 in France (via Coyote Productions) are set to make local versions of the format that follows the ups and downs of regular shifts in an emergency call centre through the ears and eyes of the people who work there.

Emergency Call features paramedics, police and fire brigade services in a compelling new documentary format that follows the telephone workers who face critical, inane, unexpected and often dangerous situations requiring immediate responses. Whether it’s handling a distressing call about a suspected intruder or an absurd request for the police to deliver food and cigarettes, this is the story of the extraordinary call centre operators at the front line, who expect the unexpected every time they answer the phone.

From the creators of the compelling, community-based format Radio Gaga, Emergency Call has already aired on French Belgium public broadcaster RTBF and Eén, the Flemish public channel.
