EUROPEAN BROADCASTERS GO GAGA
OVER LINEUP INDUSTRIES FORMAT
Radio Gaga commissioned in Holland, Denmark and Spain
Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries’ highly original and uniquely touching format Radio Gaga has won new commissions in three key European territories as well as being recommissioned in Belgium.
Movistar in Spain, DR Denmark and Holland’s NPO3 have all ordered local versions of the feel-good social experiment format that follows a hyper-local radio station. In addition, VRT in Belgium has recommissioned the 8-part show from producer De Chinezen for its 3rd season on the Canvas channel.
Radio Gaga sees two hosts travel through the country in their mobile radio studio, stopping to set up camp in various small communities. They then spend the next 48 hours running a radio station for the locals – taking everything from song requests to confessions. Radio Gaga searches for nuance, humor and emotion, the soul and the soundtrack of a particular place. What is unique about this community, and what connects those who live there?
Julian Curtis, co-founder of Lineup Industries said: “This is just the type of go-to programming that broadcasters want in their schedules. Radio Gaga feels intimate and local but with a universal compassion and warmth. It’s completely compelling. We’ve had a great response to the show and expect to announce further commissions soon.”
