Compelling family-focused reality format launches on Danish broadcaster, produced by Laud People

Amsterdam. 21 January 2026. Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries has signed a deal to take format The Will to DR. The Danish broadcaster launched the show this month with episode one reaching an impressive fifth place on the list of most-watches programmes in Denmark that week*. Produced by Laud People in the territory, and based on an original concept from NRK, the format tackles the difficult conversations and potential conflict around the bequeathing of a family’s inheritance…while the parties are still alive.

Death and money are among our greatest taboos, and inheritance involves both, making it an extremely sensitive subject for many families. Conflicts over the division of an estate can tear families apart. But how do you avoid disputes over inheritance if no one dares to talk about it?

The Will follows families who want to put their affairs in order while they are still in good health. Each family engages in discussions about how they wish their property, money, and valuables to be distributed, while taking relationships, emotions, and the wishes of all family members into account. Problems must be resolved and disagreements cleared away as they work together with an experienced inheritance lawyer and a host who guides them through the often difficult and emotionally charged process. But can they find a solution that ensures both peace within the family and respect for the parents’ wishes?
