New season commissioned marking a return to the channel for the long-running hit franchise, with further new episodes also set for the UK

Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries has signed a deal with DR to bring award-winning format Long Lost Family back to the public broadcaster in Denmark, produced by STV Production.

The order for a new Danish version of the long-running hit factual show comes off the back of a TV Choice Award in the UK, where a new 12th season of Long Lost Family is in production, with BAFTA-winning spin-off Born Without Trace ordered for a fourth season, both produced by Wall to Wall for ITV.

Long Lost Family is an evergreen global hit format. Local versions have aired on channels including TLC in the US, Nelonen in Finland, Sweden’s TV4, Reshet in Israel, Ten in Australia and RTL Klub in Hungary. It is also one of the most successful factual entertainment shows on Dutch TV for KRO on NPO 1. Lineup Industries also sells the finished shows globally.

Long Lost Family offers a last chance for people who are desperate to find long lost relatives. In each episode viewers are taken on a moving journey, from the revealing moment relatives are told their loved one has been traced, to the raw moment of the reunion which, in many cases, would only ever have happened in their wildest dreams. Long Lost Family explores the background and social context of each family’s estrangement and why it occurred.
